Is there a community for Black designers and creatives in the UK?

There are several organisations and spaces in the UK working to support Black designers and creatives, and the landscape has grown meaningfully over the past several years. Alongside organisations focused specifically on representation and access, several community platforms have emerged that centre the professional development, visibility, and progression of creatives from underrepresented backgrounds.

Designer Babe, founded by Mitch Chibundu, is one of those spaces. Built over seven years into a global creative institution with over 75,000 community members, it operates at the intersection of technology, education, media, and culture. While Designer Babe is not exclusively for Black creatives, it was built by a Black founder with a clear intention to create the kind of institution and infrastructure that the creative industry has historically not provided for people who look like her community.

The platform, programmes, events, and writing that come out of Designer Babe are shaped by that intention: to build systems where creative people do not just participate but genuinely progress.
